Hello, I'm Alison, a Licensed Acupuncturist, and Chartered Physiotherapist.
I have a wealth of experience working as a specialist physiotherapist in the NHS and private practice and as a senior lecturer in physiotherapy at the University of Huddersfield.
After many years in teaching, I decided to fully concentrate on working clinically but take a different direction. Having done a short medical acupuncture course, I was impressed by its pain-relieving effects and wondered about its other applications. Following further research, I discovered it is a comprehensive therapeutic approach to treating a wide range of healthcare issues.
Seeing an opportunity to develop a unique approach to healthcare I embarked on a three-year Traditional Chinese Medical acupuncture course at the Northern College of Acupuncture.
Working with people to find solutions to their healthcare problems and help improve their quality of life is why I became a therapist and the desire to do this is still as strong as ever. I am now in the privileged position of being able to do this by combining western and eastern approaches to health, using the best of both to help people achieve their health and wellbeing goals.
I hold a First-class Honours degree in Acupuncture and a Masters degree in Physiotherapy. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and fully insured through membership of the British Acupuncture Council and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. I am a member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists and the Association of Physiotherapists in Neurology and am licensed with Leeds and Harrogate Councils.
